Explaining Color Changes to Young Kids
I love working with young kids. They never cease to amaze me with the answers they give.
For example, while teaching a group of kids about mixing paint colors, I ask, “What do you get when you mix white and red?”
One boy quickly answered, “Pink underwear!”
From experience the boy had discovered that washing something red with white clothes changed the color of his underwear from white to pink.
The young boy was satisfied with his answer and had no interested in knowing how in changes at the molecular level affects colors.
Sometimes its best to leave things alone and let children Play and Have Fun with Science.
