Question:
What is the difference between UVA, UVB, and UVC?
UVA= Aging. This UV radiation can penetrate and damage the cell. About 98% of the UV radiation reaching Earth’s surface is UVA.
UVB= Burning. This UV radiation is mainly what causes sunburns. Most of the radiation is absorbed in by the ozone layer in Earth’s atmosphere. Only about 2% of the UV radiation reaching Earth’s surface is UVB.
UVC= Collected. This UV radiation is almost 100% collected (absorbed by the ozone layer in Earth’s atmosphere.
When selecting sunscreen, make sure you get one that has both UVA and UVB protection.
