Definitions are given in reference to water.
Evaporation: The change of liquid water to water vapor at temperatures below the boiling point of water (212o F (100 o C). Evaporation occurs on the surface of water where the molecules of water are linked to each other. The liquid surface water molecules must absorb enough energy to break away form surrounding water molecules.
Condensation: The change of water vapor to liquid water. Condensation occurs when water vapor is cooled.
Precipitation: The falling to Earth of water in any physical state (rain, sleet, snow, hail, mist,etc).
Water Cycle: The continuous movement of water on, above, and below the Earth’s surface.
