These kids are decorating clay pots, which will be used to celebrate July 4th.
The pots will be filled with soil and instead of holding lit sparklers in their hands, the sparklers will be stuck in the soil inside the pots.
The pots can be set at a distance from the kids–not too far and not too close. As with anything that is burning, special note should be taken of flammable things around the burning sparklers. After all, when burning, sparklers can reach temperatures up to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature depends on the chemicals used to make the sparkler.
For more information about sparklers, see SPARKLERS.
