Physical Properties of Spicy Christmas Ornaments

By Janice VanCleave

Christmas OrnamentsApplesauce and cinnamon are so aromatic, which means they have a very strong smell. Another way to say this is that they have a very distinctive fragrance.

The Christmas ornaments shown are made with applesauce, cinnamon, and glue. For detailed instructions, see:

Spicy Christmas Ornaments

Applesauce and cinnamon also have distinctive tastes. Thus, while using these material to make Christmas ornaments, they can also be used as materials for a science investigation about four of their physical properties: visual, smell, touch, and taste.

Prepare a Data Table, such as the one shown.Observe each material listed and write their properties in the appropriate box. The combination of applesauce, cinnamon, and glue is the dough used to make the ornaments.

Caution:
The glue and applesauce + cinnamon + glue dough is not to be eaten.
