What is a series circuit circuit?

Answer:

First, let me define a few words:

electricity: Electrical energy
circuit: Path through which electrical energy passes.
series circuit: A circular path through which electricity passes.

As defined, a series circuit is one large circle through which electricity passes.

Look at the diagram of the series circuit. Notice that two light, A and B, are part of the circuit. Electricity from the battery passes through the wire to one bulb and then to the next, and finally through a wire back to the battery.  As long as there are no breaks in the circuit, both bulbs will glow.

A break in a series circuit can be:

1. A burned out bulb. If one bulb is not working, the circuit is broken and no bulbs in the circuit will glow.

2. One of the bulbs has been removed. Again, without the bulb the circuit is broken and no bulbs in the circuit will glow.

3. A loose wire. If the circuit is not a complete circle, the electricity cannot flow.
