A polymer is made of many monomers linked together.
monomer: A single unit; a single molecule.
The diagram represents a model of a polymer. While actual polymers can be made of thousands of monomers, the model shown has only eleven.
The monomers in the diagram are different colors and sizes of beads on a black string. The string is tied to make a polymer necklace.
Teaching Tip
Using beads and string, kids can make their own polymer models. Any and all bead sequencing should be acceptable as long as it is original. The only restriction that I suggest is –NO DUPLICATE POLYMER MODELS.
Have Fun!
I would love to see pictures of the different polymer models.
