Science Fair Projects: Models

janice-helpmeNotes from Janice’s Desk

I received an email from a mom who referenced the note with “Desperate MOM-Please Help Me. This frantic mom was in a panic over her son’s science assignment.  It was to be a parent/child project.  I wondered how difficult an assignment kindergarten kids could be. At my request, she faxed the assignment. I should have said, she faxed me the booklet describing each step necessary to complete the assignment. YIKES!! It wasn’t that the instructions were difficult, there were so many pages.

To educators, I suggest that use this mnemonic:
K.I.S.S. –Keep It Super Simple.

So how did the mom and son project do? After a few helpful hints, the mom’s panic attacks ceased and she and her son played and discovered how the petals of a flower change color when the cut flower stems are placed in colored water.
