Notes from Janice’s Desk
Over the years I’ve collected very valuable pieces of art work, including the one shown. If the work were in a frame with Picasso’s name on it one might think it was during his basic shape period. But the art is even more valuable to me than any that Picasso might have done. It is one of many in my collection while the artist was very young. Alas, the artist grew up and no longer paints, but I continue to display my private collection of her work.
I do want to point out that the art is a combination of a tracing and free-hand drawings. It started out being a fun craft. I had suggested making body drawings and provided large sheets of paper and crayons. The basic box shape was the tracing and features, including arms and legs were drawn free hand.
The picture provided a fun way to talk about geometric shapes and to make size comparisons. Which is bigger? Which is smaller? etc…..
