Two Little Rascals Raise a Caterpillar

The Adventures of Two Little Rascals is a story in the making.

The following English and Spanish dialog is from Evelyn, the mom of the Two Little Rascals. I hope you enjoy this Caterpillar Raising Saga as much as I did.

Raising a Caterpillar

*We found this caterpillar at home and we immediately made it part of the family. We wanted to observe the life cycle of the butterfly. However, Otto escaped after being 4 days with us and, well, let’s say he’s at a better place now.”

“Encontramos esta oruga en casa e inmediatamente la hicimos parte de la familia. Queríamos ver el ciclo de vida de la mariposa. Pero luego de estar con nosotros durante 4 días, Oto se escapó y pasó a mejor vida 🙁 “

“Although Otto wasn’t long enough with us 🙁 we sure learned a great deal. The kids spent their days observing and feeding Otto, and investigating about caterpillars and butterflies. It became a learning adventure for the whole family!”

“El corto tiempo que la tuvimos 🙁 aprendimos mucho y los nenes estuvieron observando, alimentándola e investigando sobre ella. Fue un proceso de aprendizaje para todos en la familia!”

FYI: Evelyn sent pictures of the caterpillar’s house with concerns about what it should eat. She and her 2 Little Rascals also wanted to identify the caterpillar. Before I could send information about building a home for Otto- the Caterpillar, it escaped from its open container home. A second caterpillar was found outside on a leaf. YEA!! They knew what to feed Otto-2 and I emailed instructions for building an insect home using netting. Janice

This is Otto-2 already changing into THIS. One of the 1st things we did was identify the type of caterpillar we had. We visited THIS SITE sent by Janice.

“Otto moving all over the house especially at night time as it was transforming into a Moth.

(Want to know how we found out that the hungry Otto was eating? By the huge balls of feces, hehehe.)”

“Oto moviéndose por todos lados en su casita. Debido a que se iba a convertir en una Alevilla o Mariposa Nocturna, era por las noches cuando se movía más.
(Saben cómo sabíamos si Oto se estaba alimentando? Por las bolas grandotas de heces fecales, jejeje.)”

Otto-2 managed to find a way out of its net house and escaped before it formed a chrysalis.

Will there be an Otto-3 adventure? I do hope so. Janice
