WebSite: Unattached Art

By Janice VanCleave

Did I really delete 1000 pieces of art?

Why would I do such a crazy thing?

How am I going to fix it?

Yes, I deleted about 1000 pieces of art. This means that about 900 posts on this website are without art.

Was it an accident?
No! I methodically deleted about 1000 pieces of art that were listed as being unattached art.

I often create art–add it to a post, but then decide to revise the art without deleting the first copy. So, it was natural for me to think the 1000+ pieces of art were actually these unused creations and should be removed. WRONG!!!

So why was the art listed as being unattached?

Of course, when I permanently deleted the art from the posts, I discovered that the art was attached.  The incorrect listing for the art was  due to my cutting the HTML from one page and pasting it as the HTML code for a post. By doing this, the code for the art is not assigned to the URL of the new page. This art is displayed but is unassigned.

WOW!! I am impressed that I actually understand what I just said.

My problem is that I might understand the HTML language today but if I don’t use it often I forget. So, I am writing this for me as well as any other terminal Website Newie, like me, that needs  refresher lessons. I know that my brain has web stuff that I’ve learned and used. But sometimes I need a hint –a little activation energy–to warm up my sluggish brain cells were web stuff is stored.

Following is the HTML code for the picture and the three questions at the top of this page. If I paste this code on another page, the art would be visible as it is on this page, but by using this method instead of uploading and adding the image , the art is tagged as being unattached.

Now, How am I going to fix the problem.

1. I could replace all of the information on this website using the most recent backup copy of the information. I have written stuff since I CREATED THIS PROBLEM.

2. I could revise the pages one at a time–adding the necessary art as well as tweaking the information on each page. I am considering this. But in the mean time, just wanted you to know what is happening.

I appreciate your patients when you find a page without art–I do not have a list of all of them, so yes, send me a note via ASK Janice on the Navigation bar at the top of this page.
